Founded in 1978, Malamalama offers preschool through eighth grade curriculum at our campus in Hawaiian Paradise Park on the island of Hawaii. Our 20-acre campus offers students a harmonious and nurturing environment surrounded by the natural beauty of "old" Hawaii.

Malamalama Waldorf School is committed to educating the thinking, feeling, and the will of the whole child. Our primary goal is for our students to achieve academic excellence while building a good foundation for the love of learning.

Waldorf Education fosters the ability to think with clarity, to feel with compassion, and to initiate change with confidence. Waldorf Education is based on the ideas of educator, artist and philosopher, Dr. Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) who founded the first Waldorf School.

The Waldorf Curriculum addresses the aspects of the growing needs of the developing child.  Children are challenged to develop faculties of the head, heart and hands – the thinking, willing and feeling capacities in us all.  At Malamalama Waldorf School academic subjects are taught in interesting and engaging ways and are supported through the arts including movement, Japanese language, violin and viola, handwork, music, gardening, and woodworking.
